Union Home Minister Amit Shah has urged Odisha and Chhattisgarh to find a mutually acceptable solution to the long-standing Mahanadi water dispute. A high-level meeting in New Delhi, attended by the chief ministers of both states and the Union Jal Shakti Minister, marked a significant political intervention. While no final water-sharing formula was decided, both states expressed optimism about a negotiated settlement. Discussions covered water sharing, irrigation, flood control, and power generation, with both sides submitting technical data for examination by the Central Water Commission.
