Suspended DIG Bhullar to Cooperate in Corruption Probe; SC Urges Faster Trial

The Supreme Court has directed a faster trial in a corruption case involving suspended Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar. A bench led by CJI Surykant emphasized the need for swift testimony from witnesses. Bhullar, who is challenging the Punjab and Haryana High Court's denial of bail, assured the court of his full cooperation in the examination of witnesses. The CBI arrested Bhullar in October 2025 for allegedly demanding bribes while serving as DIG of Rupnagar Range. The next hearing is scheduled in four weeks.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने पंजाब के निलंबित डीआईजी हरचरण सिंह भुल्लर से जुड़े भ्रष्टाचार के मामले में तेज सुनवाई का निर्देश दिया है। सीजेआई सूर्यकांत की अगुवाई वाली एक पीठ ने गवाहों की गवाही को जल्दी पूरा करने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया। भुल्लर, जो पंजाब और हरियाणा हाई कोर्ट द्वारा जमानत से इनकार को चुनौती दे रहे हैं, ने गवाहों की जांच में पूर्ण सहयोग का आश्वासन दिया। सीबीआई ने भुल्लर को अक्टूबर 2025 में रूपनगर रेंज के डीआईजी के रूप में सेवा करते हुए रिश्वत मांगने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया था। अगली सुनवाई चार हफ्तों में निर्धारित है।
