Haryana Tightens Rules For Mental Health Units With New Regulations
Times of India · india
Haryana has notified a six-category regulatory framework to enforce strict standards on psychiatric care and de-addiction facilities across the state. The new rules, issued under the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017, mandate essential infrastructure like separate beds, clean sanitation, and power backup, while prohibiting patients from sleeping on the floor. Physical restraint is now restricted to preventing self-harm or danger to others, requiring prior authorization. De-addiction units must mandatorily register patients on a monitoring portal, aiming to ensure standardized mental healthcare access and enhanced patient safety.
