PMK Chief Demands Demolition of Marsh Structures Causing Flooding

The Hindu · india

PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss has demanded the demolition of a retaining wall and walkway being built in Chennai's Pallikaranai Marsh. He alleges these structures, part of the Forest Department's 'Neithal Restoration and Conservation Works', have obstructed rainwater flow. This obstruction caused significant flooding in Pallikaranai and Jalladianpet following the October 17 rainfall, necessitating pumping water into the marsh. Ramadoss warned of further flooding if the project continues and called for an inquiry into its implementation.
