CAG Flags 12,394 Acres Unused Industrial Land Odisha

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has identified that 12,394 acres of land allotted for industrial purposes in Odisha between 1981 and 2021 remain unused. An additional 252 acres were diverted for unauthorised purposes. The audit revealed lapses in land management by the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) and the Revenue and Disaster Management Department. A lack of effective monitoring and clear lease deed provisions hindered the enforcement of land utilisation. This situation has led to significant government land, valued at Rs 597.87 crore, being under unauthorised occupation.
