However, India is not pausing its artificial intelligence ambitions, focusing instead on building essential infrastructure, models, and talent. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology stated India is not at the technology's frontier and its work prioritizes domestic applications. This strategy aims to strengthen India's position in the AI economy and develop models for its population, rather than solely competing with advanced global systems.
