Canada's new immigration levels plan, tabled in Parliament, will maintain current intakes for both permanent and temporary residents, contrary to speculation of an increase. Permanent resident admissions will remain at 380,000 annually from 2027 to 2029, with a focus on the economic stream. Temporary resident numbers, including students and workers, will also stay static at 370,000 per year. The government aims for sustainable immigration to support economic growth and rebuild public confidence. Indians were the largest cohort availing economic PR and study permits in 2025.
