Gunmen Kill Over 40 Civilians in Mali Attacks

More than 40 civilians were killed in weekend attacks by armed men on camps in Mali's northeastern Menaka region. Assailants on motorcycles targeted camps primarily housing members of the Daoussahak community, which blamed the Islamic State group for the killings. Security sources indicated the massacre was likely retaliation for recent military operations and attacks by the Movement for the Salvation of Azawad. The violence has displaced many, with survivors arriving in Menaka seeking refuge.

सप्ताहांत में माली के पूर्वोत्तर मेनाका क्षेत्र में बने शिविरों पर हुए हमलों में 40 से ज़्यादा आम लोगों की मौत हो गई। हमलावरों ने मोटरसाइकिलों पर आकर उन शिविरों को निशाना बनाया जहाँ मुख्य रूप से दाउसाहक समुदाय के लोग रहते थे। इस समुदाय ने इन हत्याओं के लिए Islamic State group को ज़िम्मेदार ठहराया है। सुरक्षा सूत्रों का कहना है कि यह नरसंहार शायद हाल ही में हुई सैन्य कार्रवाईयों और Movement for the Salvation of Azawad के हमलों का बदला लेने के लिए किया गया है। इस हिंसा के कारण कई लोग विस्थापित हुए हैं और बचे हुए लोग मेनाका में शरण लेने पहुँचे हैं।
