Fiji Declares HIV National Crisis Amidst Rising Cases

Fiji has declared HIV a national health crisis, citing a significant rise in cases. The government reported 2,016 new HIV diagnoses in 2025, a 16-fold increase from 2019. An estimated one in 60 adults now live with HIV, up from one in 167 five years ago. Two in 100 pregnant women are living with HIV, and 59 babies were born with the virus in 2025.
