The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition seeking to declare the police as sovereign and independent, similar to the judiciary. The plea was filed by Abhijit Dipke, founder of the 'Cockroach Janata Party'. A bench led by CJI Surya Kant also rejected a request to review orders quashing FIRs against young students. The court emphasized considering the future of students and avoiding repeated court appearances. CJI Surya Kant cited the example of Himachal Pradesh MLAs, noting that while public property was damaged, the court considered the prevailing COVID-19 crisis.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने न्यायपालिका की तरह पुलिस को संप्रभु और स्वतंत्र घोषित करने की मांग वाली याचिका खारिज कर दी है। यह याचिका 'कॉकरोच जनता पार्टी' के संस्थापक अभिजीत दीपके ने दायर की थी। सीजेआई सूर्यकांत की अगुवाई वाली पीठ ने युवा छात्रों के खिलाफ एफआईआर रद्द करने के आदेशों की समीक्षा के अनुरोध को भी खारिज कर दिया। अदालत ने छात्रों के भविष्य पर विचार करने और बार-बार अदालत आने से बचने पर जोर दिया। सीजेआई सूर्यकांत ने हिमाचल प्रदेश के विधायकों का उदाहरण दिया, यह बताते हुए कि सार्वजनिक संपत्ति को नुकसान पहुंचाया गया था, लेकिन अदालत ने तत्कालीन COVID-19 संकट पर विचार किया।
