CPI(M) Worker Gets Life Imprisonment For Murder Of BMS Activist

A CPI(M) worker, Janmeetavida Biju, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Additional Sessions Court in Kannur for the murder of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) activist V.C. Vinayan. The court also imposed a fine of ₹2 lakh on Biju, with an additional year of imprisonment for non-payment. Vinayan was hacked to death in March 2009 in Panniyannur. Biju was the first accused in the case, while the other seven accused were acquitted by the court. The prosecution presented its case, with the deceased's wife represented by a lawyer.

कन्नूर की अतिरिक्त सत्र अदालत ने भारतीय मजदूर संघ (बीएमएस) के कार्यकर्ता वी.सी. विनायन की हत्या के मामले में सीपीआई(एम) कार्यकर्ता जानमीताविदा बीजू को उम्रकैद की सजा सुनाई है। अदालत ने बीजू पर ₹2 लाख का जुर्माना भी लगाया है, और भुगतान न करने पर एक साल की अतिरिक्त कैद का आदेश दिया है। विनायन को मार्च 2009 में पन्नियन्नूर में कुल्हाड़ी से काटकर मार डाला गया था। बीजू इस मामले में पहला आरोपी था, जबकि अदालत ने अन्य सात आरोपियों को बरी कर दिया। अभियोजन पक्ष ने अपना मामला पेश किया, जिसमें मृतक की पत्नी की ओर से एक वकील पेश हुए।
