Bill Gates Pushes Back on AI Doomerism, Cites Need for Regulation
Times of India · technology
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has responded to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's warnings about AI, stating that responsible AI leaders, including Altman, acknowledge the technology's concerning aspects. While agreeing that some AI fears sound like "bad science fiction," Gates emphasized that AI poses greater risks than heavily regulated industries like aviation or medicine. He argued for a balanced regulatory approach, similar to that for cars and drugs, rather than extreme positions of no safeguards or complete halts.
