The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has voiced strong opposition to the proposed privatisation of the Captain of Ports (CoP) jetty and floating jetties in the capital. Mayor Rohit Monserrate urged corporators to support Revenue Minister Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate’s objection, stating the CCP was kept uninformed about government plans. Opposition corporators backed the mayor, opposing the privatisation of ten jetties and requesting a hold on new projects. Concerns include traffic, parking, pedestrian safety, and public access, with citizens fearing increased congestion from commercialisation.
