A 21-year-old Nepalese national, Sudeep Bogati, staged a daring escape from Chennai's Puzhal central prison by scaling a 23ft wall using solar power cables. He exploited a 10-minute change of guards and heavy rain that snapped the electric fencing, preventing electrocution. Despite suffering a hip injury during his leap, Bogati managed to flee and was later apprehended at a tea shop while attempting to return to Nepal. In response to the security lapse, seven jail personnel have been suspended.
