Christa Pike, convicted of murder three decades ago, survived Tennessee's attempt to execute her by lethal injection on Wednesday. This marked the state's first effort to execute a woman in two centuries. Prison officials stated they followed protocol, but Pike's lawyers reported she was still alive after the injections. Governor Bill Lee has suspended all executions this year and called for a review of the incident. This is the second botched execution in Tennessee this year.
