A 1910 Arts and Crafts bungalow in Lake Oswego, Oregon, narrowly escaped demolition and has been sold for $1.47 million after a significant restoration. Developers had planned to bulldoze the 3,074-square-foot home on its 1.04-acre lot to build multiple high-density residences. Preservation advocates intervened, leading John McCulloch to purchase the property for $610,000, halting the demolition. The home, known as the Emma Austin House, is a notable example of early 20th-century design.
