Tamil Nadu Special TET Exam Sees Less Than 50% Pass Rate; Activists Seek Next Test

Less than 50% of in-service teachers in Tamil Nadu have cleared the special Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) papers 1 and 2. Out of 2.17 lakh teachers who took the exam in July, only 1.08 lakh passed. While paper 1 had an 80% pass rate, paper 2 saw less than 40% of candidates succeed. This special TET was mandated by the Supreme Court for teachers with over five years of experience to retain their jobs by August 2028.

तमिलनाडु में सेवारत 50% से कम शिक्षकों ने स्पेशल टीचर्स एलिजिबिलिटी टेस्ट (TET) पेपर 1 और 2 पास किए हैं। जुलाई में परीक्षा देने वाले 2.17 लाख शिक्षकों में से केवल 1.08 लाख ही पास हुए। पेपर 1 में जहां 80% पास दर थी, वहीं पेपर 2 में 40% से कम उम्मीदवार सफल हुए। यह स्पेशल TET सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने 5 साल से ज़्यादा अनुभव वाले शिक्षकों के लिए अगस्त 2028 तक अपनी नौकरी बनाए रखने के लिए अनिवार्य किया था।
