Kelowna grower Jordan Abbate has won the 2026 B C Giant Pumpkin Contest with his 1,485-pound pumpkin. His entry narrowly beat the runner-up, weighing 1,484 pounds, by a single pound. Abbate dedicated six months of daily care to his pumpkin, including watering, pruning, and soil preparation, even through winter. This victory marks a first for the B C Interior region in the contest's 13-year history. The event is sanctioned by the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth, an international organization.
