Aaj Tak · india

NHRC has issued notices to the governments and police chiefs of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. This action follows media reports alleging that parents in districts bordering MP and Rajasthan are selling their minor daughters to middlemen for ₹3 to ₹5 lakh. These middlemen then allegedly use forged documents to traffic the girls, presenting them as adopted children. Upon reaching adulthood, their identities are altered before being sold for ₹35 to ₹40 lakh in Maharashtra, where they are reportedly forced into sex work.
