Bengal Govt Withdraws OBC Status Appeal

The West Bengal government has withdrawn its Supreme Court appeal challenging a High Court verdict on the OBC status of 77 castes. The previous Mamata Banerjee government had filed the appeal after the Calcutta High Court struck down the inclusion of these communities, including 75 Muslim groups. The state cabinet decided not to pursue the matter further.

पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार ने 77 जातियों के OBC दर्जे पर कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट के फैसले को सुप्रीम कोर्ट में चुनौती देने वाली अपनी अपील वापस ले ली है। ममता बनर्जी की पिछली सरकार ने इन समुदायों, जिनमें 75 मुस्लिम समूह भी शामिल थे, को शामिल करने के हाई कोर्ट के फैसले को रद्द करने के बाद यह अपील दायर की थी। राज्य कैबिनेट ने अब इस मामले को आगे न बढ़ाने का फैसला किया है।
