न्यूफ़ाउंडलैंड में 1904 में शिकार के लिए लाए गए सिर्फ़ चार मूस ने वहाँ के जंगलों और वन्यजीव प्रबंधन को पूरी तरह बदल दिया है। इनकी आबादी बढ़कर लगभग 2 लाख हो गई, जिससे जंगल को भारी नुकसान हुआ और अन्य वन्यजीवों की संख्या घटने लगी। अब एक नई योजना बनाई गई है जो वैज्ञानिक तरीकों से मूस की संख्या, जंगल के स्वास्थ्य, लोगों की सुरक्षा और पूरे पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र के लंबे समय तक चलने वाले संतुलन को बनाए रखेगी।
