HC orders KIADB to pay 8% interest

The Karnataka High Court has directed the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) to compensate a software company with 8% interest on its Rs 38 lakh deposit made in December 2009. This decision comes after KIADB stated it had no litigation-free land available for Brightsword Technologies' project. The company had sought 8.5 acres for an IT park with an investment of Rs 43,000 crore. Following litigation and recommended dropping of certain land parcels, the company challenged the order. The court has ordered compensation to be paid within eight weeks.

कर्नाटक हाईकोर्ट ने कर्नाटक इंडस्ट्रियल एरियाज डेवलपमेंट बोर्ड (KIADB) को एक सॉफ्टवेयर कंपनी को दिसंबर 2009 में जमा की गई 38 लाख रुपये की राशि पर 8% ब्याज देने का निर्देश दिया है। यह फैसला तब आया जब KIADB ने कहा कि ब्राइटस्वॉर्ड टेक्नोलॉजीज के प्रोजेक्ट के लिए उसके पास कोई मुकदमेबाजी-मुक्त जमीन उपलब्ध नहीं है। कंपनी ने 43,000 करोड़ रुपये के निवेश के साथ एक आईटी पार्क के लिए 8.5 एकड़ जमीन मांगी थी। मुकदमेबाजी और कुछ भूमि पार्सल को छोड़ने की सिफारिश के बाद, कंपनी ने आदेश को चुनौती दी थी। अदालत ने आठ सप्ताह के भीतर मुआवजा देने का आदेश दिया है।
