Seventeen-year-old Sophia Fan from Maryland founded the nonprofit Literacy Cycle four years ago, inspired by forgotten books under her stairs. The initiative has since distributed over 7,000 books, including AP textbooks and SAT prep materials, to children in the US and abroad. Literacy Cycle now has chapters in five other US states and one in Rwanda. Fan's goal is to make learning accessible and reduce the financial burden of educational materials for students and families.
