Sebi Eases Digital KYC Rules For NRIs, Foreign Nationals From December 3
Business Standard · stocks
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has relaxed know-your-customer (KYC) requirements for individuals residing outside India, effective December 3. This revised framework allows non-resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and foreign nationals from Financial Action Task Force (FATF)-compliant countries to complete digital onboarding without physical presence. Intermediaries can now accept digital submissions and rely on KYC records shared across entities. The move aims to simplify the onboarding process and encourage investment in Indian markets by eligible foreign investors.
