Congress Reminds Rajnath Singh of Pranab Mukherjee's View on Opposition's Role

The Congress has responded to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's allegations of seeking a regime change, reminding him of former President Pranab Mukherjee's perspective. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh stated that Singh needs to recall Mukherjee's frequent assertion that the Opposition's role in a democracy is to oppose, expose, and depose. Singh had accused the Congress and its allies of attempting a Bangladesh-like regime change and fostering anarchy. He also emphasized that democracy does not grant a license to create disorder or undermine constitutional institutions.

कांग्रेस ने रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह के 'सत्ता परिवर्तन' के आरोपों पर पलटवार करते हुए पूर्व राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी के विचारों की याद दिलाई है। कांग्रेस नेता जयराम रमेश ने कहा कि राजनाथ सिंह को प्रणब मुखर्जी की उस बात को याद करना चाहिए जो वे अक्सर कहते थे कि लोकतंत्र में विपक्ष का काम विरोध करना, बेनकाब करना और हटाना होता है। राजनाथ सिंह ने कांग्रेस और उसके सहयोगियों पर बांग्लादेश की तरह सत्ता परिवर्तन करने और अराजकता फैलाने का आरोप लगाया था। उन्होंने इस बात पर भी जोर दिया कि लोकतंत्र में अव्यवस्था फैलाने या संवैधानिक संस्थाओं को कमजोर करने का लाइसेंस नहीं मिलता है।
