इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने पिछले नौ महीनों में उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस पर कानूनी और प्रक्रियात्मक खामियों के कारण कुल लगभग ₹26 लाख का जुर्माना लगाया है। इन खामियों में गिरफ्तारी के कारण बताने में विफलता, अदालती आदेशों की अवहेलना, हिरासत की अवधि से संबंधित मुद्दे और सीसीटीवी फुटेज की कमी शामिल है। एक मामले में, अदालत ने अवैध पुलिस हिरासत के लिए ₹50,000 के मुआवजे का आदेश दिया। अदालत ने गिरफ्तारियों के लिए जानकारी की पर्याप्तता और देरी से रिहाई पर भी सवाल उठाए हैं, जिससे अधिकारियों के खिलाफ विभागीय कार्रवाई के निर्देश दिए गए हैं।
