BJP's West Bengal Election Spending Reveals Diverse Campaign Tactics
Times of India · politics
The BJP declared Rs 529.39 crore in expenses for recent assembly elections across five states, with Congress reporting Rs 248.55 crore. A significant portion of the BJP's spending, nearly two-thirds of the difference between the parties, was allocated to advertisements and travel for star campaigners. Money directly given to candidates formed a smaller part of this expenditure. The BJP's extensive advertising and senior leader deployment distinguished its spending pattern from Congress. The party achieved significant victories, including forming its first government in West Bengal.
