Low Voltage Plagues Gangotri-Harsil Valley Hotels, Impacts Tourist Amenities
Times of India · business
Hotels in the Gangotri-Harsil valley are struggling with low voltage, severely impacting their ability to provide essential services like heaters and geysers during the peak winter tourist season. Two local micro-hydel projects that previously ensured stable power supply are now non-operational, exacerbating the issue. Officials note that increased demand from new establishments and the long distance of the main power source contribute to the voltage drop. The Dharali plant has been out of service for about a year, with upgrades pending government approval.
