UDF Ousts LDF From Upputhara Panchayat With BJP Support

The United Democratic Front (UDF) has taken control of the Upputhara grama panchayat in Idukki after a no-confidence motion against the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) passed with unexpected support. In the 18-member panchayat, where both UDF and LDF held eight seats, a BJP member and an Independent member switched allegiance. The BJP member voted in favour of the motion, while the Independent cited stalled development projects as her reason for leaving the LDF.
