China's Commerce Ministry has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of p-nitrotoluene, a chemical used in dyes, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides, from the European Union. This move comes less than a week before EU trade chief Maros Sefcovic is scheduled to visit Beijing for crucial trade talks. The investigation was requested by China's domestic industry, which claims that low-priced EU imports are damaging its production. This action escalates existing trade tensions between China and the EU, which has also been investigating Chinese imports.
