Hindustan Times · india
The Supreme Court has strongly criticised the Allahabad High Court for releasing two convicts of a 2003 knife and gun attack on probation. The apex court stated that the High Court showed "misplaced sympathy" despite the "brutality" of the crime, allowing the convicts to go free without serving any jail time. The Supreme Court set aside the High Court's order, directing the convicts to surrender within two weeks. The court emphasised that the nature of the offence and the severity of injuries should have been paramount in the decision.
