Madras HC urged to stay Tamil Nadu byelections

A public interest litigation has been filed at the Madras High Court seeking to halt upcoming byelections in Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies. The plea aims to prevent MLAs from resigning and seeking re-election with other parties, which wastes public funds. The petitioner requests stringent rules, like an 'election expenditure security deposit', and a cooling-off period for resigned legislators. Six AIADMK MLAs resigned and joined the ruling TVK party this year.

मद्रास हाईकोर्ट से तमिलनाडु उपचुनाव रोकने की अपील

मदुरान्तकम और धरपुरम सीटों पर होने वाले उपचुनावों को रोकने के लिए मद्रास हाई कोर्ट में एक जनहित याचिका दायर की गई है। याचिका में कहा गया है कि विधायकों का इस्तीफा देकर दूसरी पार्टियों से चुनाव लड़ना जनता के पैसे की बर्बादी है। याचिकाकर्ता ने इस्तीफा देने वाले विधायकों के लिए 'चुनाव खर्च सुरक्षा जमा' जैसी कड़ी शर्तें और कूलिंग-ऑफ पीरियड की मांग की है। इस साल छह AIADMK विधायकों ने इस्तीफा देकर सत्ताधारी TVK पार्टी ज्वाइन की थी।
