कैट के फैसले ने साफ कर दिया है कि सरकारी नौकरियों में छुट्टी के लिए व्हाट्सएप पर सिर्फ 'ओके' का जवाब आधिकारिक मंज़ूरी नहीं माना जाएगा। यह फैसला उत्तर मध्य रेलवे के एक कर्मचारी के इस दावे के बाद आया कि उसकी छुट्टी की अवधि व्हाट्सएप पर बढ़ाई गई थी, लेकिन बाद में उसे निलंबित और स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया। ट्रिब्यूनल ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि छुट्टी की मंज़ूरी के लिए स्थापित प्रक्रियाओं का पालन करना और सक्षम प्राधिकारी से पुष्टि आवश्यक है। इसने यह भी कहा कि कर्मचारी यह साबित करने में विफल रहा कि स्थानांतरण दंडात्मक था, रेलवे ने प्रशासनिक ज़रूरतों का हवाला दिया।
