IIT Bombay Student's Friend Denies Casteism Allegations

A close friend of Sahil Ravindra Wakode, the IIT Bombay student who died by suicide, has stated that he does not believe casteism was a factor. The friend described Wakode as a happy person and mentioned he was caught using a mobile phone during an exam. While Wakode's family alleges institutional harassment and caste discrimination, his friend insists casteism was not an issue. He suggested that immense student pressure might be a contributing factor.

साहिल रविंद्र वाकोडे, IIT बॉम्बे के जिस छात्र ने आत्महत्या की, उसके एक करीबी दोस्त का कहना है कि उसे नहीं लगता कि जातिवाद एक वजह थी। दोस्त ने वाकोडे को खुशमिजाज बताया और कहा कि वह परीक्षा के दौरान मोबाइल फोन इस्तेमाल करते पकड़ा गया था। वाकोडे के परिवार ने जहाँ संस्थागत उत्पीड़न और जातिगत भेदभाव का आरोप लगाया है, वहीं दोस्त का कहना है कि जातिवाद कोई मुद्दा नहीं था। उसने सुझाव दिया कि छात्रों पर अत्यधिक दबाव एक कारण हो सकता है।
