Tamil Nadu has made an urgent oral plea in the Supreme Court, accusing Karnataka of failing to release Cauvery river water since October 23. The state's counsel informed the court that Karnataka has defied orders from the Cauvery Water Management Authority to release 3,000 cusecs daily. This deficit threatens approximately four lakh hectares of agricultural land intended for crops. The Supreme Court has agreed to list Tamil Nadu's plea for an early hearing, acknowledging the gravity of the water dispute.
