Woman's Abdominal Pain Leads to Discovery of 4cm Sewing Needle

A 50-year-old woman experienced severe abdominal pain, prompting doctors to investigate. A CT scan revealed a 4 cm metallic object in her abdomen, later identified as a sewing needle. The woman recalled falling asleep while sewing and suspecting she may have rolled onto the needle. Surgeons performed minimally invasive surgery to remove the needle, which was found embedded in fatty tissue near her colon. She was discharged after recovering from the procedure and a minor infection.
