Madras High Court Judge Links COVID-19 Lockdown To Broken Marriages

The Hindu · india

Madras High Court Justice N Anand Venkatesh observed that the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns significantly impacted marriages between 2020 and 2022. He noted that nearly half of the matrimonial disputes he handled recently involved couples married during this period, with many having lived together for only a few months. The judge believes the extraordinary circumstances and exposure to each other's worst traits under pressure strained these relationships. He has directed family courts across Tamil Nadu to collect data on these disputes to explore unique solutions.
