Hockey India Threatens Odisha Body Over Governance Lapses

Hockey India has issued a show-cause notice to the Hockey Association of Odisha (HAO) for alleged governance lapses. The national body cited issues including the appointment of bureaucrats to head all 30 district units and non-compliance with bye-laws on democratic elections and transparency. Hockey India questioned how democratic elections could occur when office-bearers hold positions ex officio and district units failed to submit verifiable election records or align their bye-laws. The deficiencies prevented the finalization of electoral rolls and the scheduled election for HAO’s executive committee.

हॉकी इंडिया ने कथित शासन संबंधी खामियों के लिए हॉकी एसोसिएशन ऑफ ओडिशा (HAO) को कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी किया है। राष्ट्रीय निकाय ने सभी 30 जिला इकाइयों के प्रमुख के रूप में नौकरशाहों की नियुक्ति और लोकतांत्रिक चुनावों तथा पारदर्शिता पर उप-नियमों का पालन न करने जैसे मुद्दों का हवाला दिया। हॉकी इंडिया ने सवाल उठाया कि जब पदाधिकारी पदधारी के रूप में पद धारण करते हैं और जिला इकाइयों ने सत्यापन योग्य चुनाव रिकॉर्ड जमा करने या अपने उप-नियमों को संरेखित करने में विफल रहीं तो लोकतांत्रिक चुनाव कैसे हो सकते हैं। इन कमियों के कारण चुनावी रोल को अंतिम रूप देने और HAO की कार्यकारी समिति के लिए निर्धारित चुनाव में बाधा आई।
