Telangana's Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has requested an immediate expansion of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway-65 into a 6+2 lane corridor. This plea comes amid a sharp rise in traffic and persistent road accidents on the current four-lane highway. The minister conveyed this to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who assured that the proposal would soon be presented for Cabinet approval. Reddy emphasized that highway success should be measured by lives saved, not just infrastructure built, and suggested an independent road safety ombudsman.

तेलंगाना के सड़क और भवन मंत्री कोमाटिरेड्डी वेंकट रेड्डी ने हैदराबाद-विजयवाड़ा नेशनल हाईवे-65 को तुरंत 6+2 लेन कॉरिडोर में विस्तारित करने का अनुरोध किया है। यह मांग वर्तमान चार-लेन हाईवे पर यातायात में तेज वृद्धि और लगातार होने वाली सड़क दुर्घटनाओं के बीच आई है। मंत्री ने केंद्रीय मंत्री नितिन गडकरी को यह बात बताई, जिन्होंने आश्वासन दिया कि प्रस्ताव जल्द ही कैबिनेट की मंजूरी के लिए प्रस्तुत किया जाएगा। रेड्डी ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि हाईवे की सफलता को केवल निर्मित बुनियादी ढांचे से नहीं, बल्कि बचाई गई जिंदगियों से मापा जाना चाहिए, और एक स्वतंत्र सड़क सुरक्षा लोकपाल का सुझाव दिया।
