Karnataka Aims To Eliminate Preventable Maternal Deaths

Karnataka is implementing district-level strategies to eliminate preventable maternal deaths, aiming to reduce the current Maternal Mortality Ratio of 73 per lakh live births. The State Health Department plans enhanced tracking of high-risk pregnancies, improved preconception and antenatal care, and better management of obstetric emergencies. A Zero Maternal Death Gram Panchayat campaign will recognise villages achieving this goal. The government also intends to establish a dedicated State-level unit and introduce a Women’s Health Policy to address evolving healthcare needs.

कर्नाटक में माताओं की होने वाली मौतों को रोकने के लिए ज़िला स्तर पर खास योजनाएं बनाई जा रही हैं। अभी हर लाख जीवित जन्म पर 73 माताओं की मौत हो जाती है, जिसे कम करने का लक्ष्य है। स्वास्थ्य विभाग हाई-रिस्क प्रेगनेंसी पर ज़्यादा ध्यान देगा, प्रेगनेंसी से पहले और दौरान बेहतर देखभाल करेगा और आपातकालीन स्थितियों को संभालेगा। जो गांव माताओं की मौत को ज़ीरो कर देंगे, उन्हें सम्मानित भी किया जाएगा।
