Bihar Seeks Higher Paddy Procurement Target

Bihar's Food Minister Ashok Choudhary has urged the Centre to increase the state's paddy procurement target for the 2026-27 kharif marketing season from 35 lakh metric tonnes to 50 lakh metric tonnes. He stated that the current allocation does not reflect Bihar's rising paddy production, improved procurement performance, or its foodgrain requirements. Choudhary emphasized that a higher target would ensure more farmers benefit from the Minimum Support Price and help meet the state's annual rice needs for the Public Distribution System.

बिहार ने धान खरीद का लक्ष्य बढ़ाने की मांग की

बिहार के खाद्य मंत्री अशोक चौधरी ने केंद्र से 2026-27 खरीफ विपणन सत्र के लिए राज्य के धान खरीद लक्ष्य को 35 लाख मीट्रिक टन से बढ़ाकर 50 लाख मीट्रिक टन करने का आग्रह किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि वर्तमान आवंटन बिहार के बढ़ते धान उत्पादन, खरीद प्रदर्शन में सुधार या खाद्य-अनाज की जरूरतों को नहीं दर्शाता है। चौधरी ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि उच्च लक्ष्य से अधिक किसानों को न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य का लाभ मिलेगा और सार्वजनिक वितरण प्रणाली के लिए राज्य की वार्षिक चावल की जरूरतों को पूरा करने में मदद मिलेगी।
