Congress Agrees to Discuss SIR Issue in Parliament, But With Conditions

TV9 Hindi · politics

Union Home Minister Amit Shah challenged Congress to a special parliamentary session to discuss the SIR process and the Chief Election Commissioner. Congress has agreed to participate, but with two conditions: the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar and the cancellation of the 'SIR' process. Earlier, the government had argued that the matter could not be discussed in Parliament as the Election Commission is a constitutional body. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh questioned the government's motives, suggesting the move aims to protect the BJP in the 2029 elections.
