Google Explores Space For AI Computation With Project Suncatcher

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has urged treating all AI models as compromised from the start, emphasizing the need for containment and the ability to pause or shut down models. Meanwhile, Google is advancing its Project Suncatcher, researching the use of space for scalable machine learning infrastructure. Google has successfully sent four radiation-tested Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) into orbit via a SpaceX mission with Planet. This initiative aims to assess TPU performance under space conditions and gather data for future space-based AI computation.

माइक्रोसॉफ्ट के CEO सत्या नडेला ने कहा है कि सभी AI मॉडल को शुरुआत से ही कॉम्प्रोमाइज्ड मानना चाहिए। उन्होंने मॉडल को रोकने या बंद करने की क्षमता पर जोर दिया। वहीं, गूगल अपने प्रोजेक्ट सनकैचर पर काम कर रहा है। यह प्रोजेक्ट स्केलेबल मशीन लर्निंग इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर के लिए अंतरिक्ष के इस्तेमाल पर रिसर्च कर रहा है। गूगल ने SpaceX मिशन के ज़रिए चार रेडिएशन-टेस्टेड टेंसर प्रोसेसिंग यूनिट्स (TPUs) को अंतरिक्ष में भेजा है। इस पहल का मकसद अंतरिक्ष की परिस्थितियों में TPUs के प्रदर्शन का आकलन करना और भविष्य में अंतरिक्ष-आधारित AI कंप्यूटेशन के लिए डेटा इकट्ठा करना है।
