Mobile Prices Jump 16% Amid Supply Shortages
Business Standard · business
Mobile phone prices in India have risen by an average of 16% in the first half of 2026, driven by increased memory costs and a weaker rupee making imported components more expensive. This surge has led to a significant double-digit decline in overall smartphone shipments, particularly for phones priced below ₹10,000, which saw a 65% year-on-year drop. While most brands increased prices substantially, OnePlus managed smaller hikes of around 8%, helping it maintain growth and become the fastest-growing brand in the premium segment.
