Punjab CM Mann Meets Panel On Anti-Sacrilege Act

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will chair a meeting of a seven-member coordination committee. This committee was formed to liaise with the Akal Takht regarding the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026. The Act, passed by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, introduced stricter penalties for desecration. Akal Takht had proposed modifications to the Act, including the removal of references to a "custodian," and gave the government a one-month deadline to revise it.
