Lamayuru in Ladakh, often called Moonland, features a unique landscape resembling the Moon's surface with rounded ridges and sculpted hills. Located along the Leh–Srinagar highway, this destination is known for its unusual terrain and the ancient Lamayuru Monastery, also known as Yuru Gompa. The monastery, believed to be founded by yogi Naropa in the 11th century, is a significant Buddhist site. Geological processes over long periods have shaped the hills, creating dramatic colours and contours that captivate visitors.
