Satellite Internet Needed in India Despite Cheap Fiber Plans

While India offers high-speed fiber broadband starting at ₹399, satellite internet services like Starlink, priced significantly higher in the US, are deemed necessary. Starlink's CEO Elon Musk previously questioned delays in India, to which the government responded that policies are uniform for all applicants. Three companies, including Starlink and Jio, have received licenses for satellite communication, pending security approval and spectrum auctions. Satellite internet offers a vital alternative in remote, disaster-prone, and border areas where fiber optic cables are impractical or frequently damaged, ensuring connectivity where terrestrial networks fail.
