A 45-year-old VCK functionary, Balamurugan, was brutally murdered by a five-member gang in Tuticorin district on Sunday morning. The incident occurred near a petrol bunk following an argument that escalated from a dispute over erected banners for a family ceremony the previous night. Police rushed to the spot, and relatives staged a road blockade demanding swift action. Following the blockade, DIG Thirunelveli range announced the formation of special teams, leading to the swift arrest of five suspects. Further investigations are ongoing.
