The funds were directed through Fortress Capital Partners, a firm run by his fiancée's father, for a development in the Algarve region. The investment collapsed shortly after the deal, with the firm subsequently entering administration amidst allegations of operating a Ponzi scheme. McTominay's company is now actively contesting ownership rights over the property.
