New Zealand Cricket has announced it will not launch a team in Major League Cricket for the 2027 season. CEO Geoff Allott stated that after further evaluation, the timing is not right for the venture. The decision comes after NZC had agreed to a partnership with True North Sports Ventures last April. The focus will now shift to strengthening cricket within New Zealand and refining the high-performance environment for players. Allott confirmed no capital had been invested in the partnership.
